tmux, zellij, and herdr
If your agents run inside a multiplexer, they keep working when you lock your phone, and you can get back to them from anywhere. Wendo works with tmux, zellij, and herdr.
Enter on connect
In the connection, under On connect, enter, choose Shell, tmux, zellij, or herdr, and optionally a session name. The command that will run is shown below:
- tmux:
tmux new-session -A -s wendo(attaches to the session or creates it). - zellij:
zellij attach -c wendo. - herdr:
herdrorherdr --session <name>.
Pick a session
- In Machines, each computer shows its sessions, windows, and panes. Tap one to open it right there.
- Inside the terminal, Sessions lists the tmux, zellij, and herdr sessions on the server. It also has a tab with recent folders, taken from the Claude and Codex history.
Workspaces
With tmux, the workspaces sheet lets you switch windows, rename, close panes or windows, and create a new session. You can also launch an agent (Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, or Gemini CLI) in a new window, or create a git worktree on a new branch and open it in its own window.
Settings
In the terminal settings:
- Apply global tmux options: titles, mouse, and status bar.
- Open recent folders in tmux.
- Export
WENDO_CLIENT=1in the remote shell.
Requirements and limits
- The multiplexer has to be installed on your computer. Wendo looks for it with a login shell, so it finds what was installed with Homebrew.
- With zellij, if it isn't known which pane the agent is in, the text goes to the active pane.
- Inbox alerts take you to the exact pane if Claude runs inside a multiplexer.
- The tmux, zellij, and herdr integration is part of Wendo Pro.
